EN) I realised that I haven't published yet about a great concert and workshops given by Mariwo Fuka in July because of my eye injury just after.
She gave the workshop of shamisen during the day and the nagauta concert in the night.
The concert was full! She presented some excerpts from Nagauta works with explanation. After the concert we had a reception where the audience could talk with the artist. People are often interested in the instruments...
Mariwo finished her study at the Tokyo University of the Arts (Traditional music department) before start her career as a nagauta singer and she created her own style "Nagauta Pop" which is a nagauta style pop music. She comes to Europe every summer for her tour at this domain.
She said she wanted young people to be interested in to the Japanese traditional music which is not anymore principal music in Japan. Only a few people listen and learn the Japanese instrument. In certain way, I and Mariwo had a same aim. We want to revive the traditional music and also develop other possibilities of Japanese traditional music (instruments)
Here in Brussels, she presented only the traditional nagauta works with expressive voice. I personally love this traditional way to sing. So I hope this music will become popular like a opera all over the world!
She gave us an excellent evening.
